Freedom Through Education Women’s Program (FTEWP)
This initiative provides weekly in-person instruction for incarcerated women in rural Kansas. FTEWP is focused on literacy, social-emotional learning, self-care, healthy boundaries, and relationship skills. This program is designed to strengthen self-esteem, support personal development, and reduce recidivism through education and practical life skills.
Bridge to Civics is a research-informed civic learning initiative developed through the Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership and Education Fellows Program to make civic education practical, accessible, and relevant to everyday life. Through short, scenario-based learning experiences, the project explores how engaging educational approaches can strengthen civic knowledge, media literacy, perspective-taking, and participation among adults and young adults. Bridge to Civics brings research and practice together to create opportunities for learning, reflection, dialogue, and community engagement.
